I have lived in Whatcom County for over 15 years and I have noticed something: there are a lot of really nice people around here. I’m not saying this to blow smoke or to flatter people. In fact, I am saying it more as a warning than a compliment. I run into many nice people whose niceness has blinded them (and the people they’re nice to) to a lie. It’s a lie that says, “As long as you’re nice, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to eternity.” Put another way, “God grades on a curve.” I call this lie The Beautiful Lie because it just sounds so good on the outside.
