The Bible's View of the Stranger Bible Study - Fall 25'
Adults Classes

Community is a word we use to describe different groups we’re a part of like our church, our school, our neighborhood, or even our city. With community comes connection, a sense of sharing an experience or a space, maybe it even acknowledges that those in a community impact one another. As Christians, we want to base our ideas about community on the word of God and the example of Jesus. During his ministry, Jesus was asked directly, who is my neighbor? And his answer surprised those who listened. This Bible study discussion group seeks to dive into the Greatest Command to Love God and love our neighbor by seeing what else the Bible has to say about that. And what emerges is the theme of welcoming the stranger. Then we’ll cover the very basics of how our modern immigration system works and begin the discussions of how those two go together.
These days, immigration can be a very hot topic, but as your church, we invite you to search the scripture and share perspectives with other believers in order to allow the truth and the heart of God to shape your view of community. Join Pastor Wendy Powell and facilitator Amanda Eurich as we humbly, respectfully, and bravely open up this difficult topic to the light of Scripture. Some familiarity with studying the Bible recommended to get the most out of this discussion.
