If I got thrown in jail for speaking the name of Jesus, I can only imagine what my prayer would be. The theme would most likely be a combination of "Please God, keep me safe," "Don't ever let that happen again," and... "Would it be OK if I got to choose the punishment for the people who hurt me?!" One theme that I'm pretty sure would be missing from my prayer would be anything to do with boldness. I would be concentrating on toning down my witness, not ratcheting it up! I was shocked to open the Bible and see how the first "Church" people responded when they were warned to keep quiet about Jesus. They chose to pray. Not for safety, deliverance or punishment… but for boldness. We are going to pray their same prayer, out loud, together – because we can!
