Due to COVID-19, AWANA will not be meeting at Bellingham Christ the King this year.

Awana Ministry

Awana was founded in 1950. It provides children (clubbers) with a safe place to play games, learn scripture and hear truths from the Word of God. To learn more about the ministry, click here. The prayer of Awana is "that all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ".

CTK Awana

Here at CTK, we offer 4 of the 6 Awana clubs: Cubbies, Sparks, T&T (Truth & Training) and Trek. Over the past 5 years we have welcomed between 150-250 clubbers to join us each year (September - May) and have had between 35-48 volunteers committed to sharing their stories and the gospel of Jesus Christ with those clubbers. Although the goal "to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ" is the same regardless of the club, their structures are slightly different from each other.

Our Pre-K clubbers have a blast down the Adventure Land Hallway. They start off the night with a time of free-play and then move into a time of large group singing and Bible lesson. During the evening they recite their verse to their leader (ideally they would have been working on that with parents at home during the week) and time is set aside at the end of the night for games and snacks.

Our K-2nd Grade Clubbers have their club night split up into three main components: Games, Small Group and Large Group. Each week they will spend about 30 minutes playing games in Base Camp on the Awana Circle, discussing and reciting the memory verse of the week in their small group (split up by team colors) and then singing songs and hearing lessons from the Bible during their Large Group time.

The 3-5th graders are ready for a more challenging evening. Although they share the same three main components as Sparks (Games, Small Group and Large Group) - they have two verses to say each week, the verse of the week and the prior week's verse; the leaders will be digging a bit deeper into the verses through study questions and activities; and each clubber has the option to go even deeper with additional Bible study or memorization with the Silver and Gold sections of their curriculum.

Middle schoolers are awesome! This program will challenge them to really grow deeper spiritually and have fun doing it. The Trek club has adopted a "no one left behind" attitude and every clubber studies and plays hard each week! Click here to view the Trek page.

We can not do club without volunteers - they are the heart and soul of the ministry!! Are you looking to serve with children? Do you have a heart for making a difference in the lives of God's most precious ones? Please know, we have a place for you!! Pray about where God might have you serve and then contact us , we would love to chat with you.

  • Do you love to work with small groups, consider joining us as a Small Group Leader (in Cubbies, Sparks or T&T) or as a Listener (in one or all of the clubs)
  • Do you love to work with all ages, and celebrate their milestones and accomplishments? Club Secretary might be just for you.
  • Do you like to take pictures? Photographers are needed 1-2 times per month and on all special nights
  • Do you enjoy baking or shopping? Hospitality could use your help providing snacks and treats for our volunteers each week.

These are just a few of our top priorities, more will be added (and others are needed).
